BOOKIES HARD HIT.
Wins Of Vaals And Murilio At Randwick. ESTIMATED LOSSES £100,000. (Received 2 i~m.) SYDNEY, this day. Exceptionally heavy betting marked the first two days of the Randwick meeting. It is estimated that the bookmakers lost £100,000 over the success of Vaals in the Epsom, and Murilio in the Metropolitan. One leading firm of bookmakers had to pay out £40,000 on two wagers, besides other heavy obligations. All the bookmakers were more or less hit, particularly over doubles. It is reported that one of the smaller operators was unable to meet hi* obligations immediately.
