FRENCH IN CANADA.
NO RACE SUICIDE. VANCOUVER, September Iβ. Mr. James Paulhaus, president of the Montreal Chamber of Commerce, startled an audience here by his declaration that, at the present birth-rate, the French-Canadian population will greatly outnumber the English-speaking Canadians before 1950. To-day, he said, French-Canadians number 4,500,000, and are increasing at a rate which will more than double their numbers in twenty years. Most of them remain in Canada, while English-speaking Canadians are steadily migrating to the United States.
