BROKEN PROPELLER BLADE.

EXAMINATION BY DIVER.

As reported on Saturday, the Ellerman Bucknall steamer City of Batavia broke a blade of her propeller during a storm in the Pacific five days before she reached Auckland from New York.

A diver made an examination of the damaged propeller as the vessel lay at the Queen's wharf this morning, and found that one of the blades had broken off short. Lloyd's surveyor at Auckland has decided that the vessel may proceed South and to Australian ports to complete discharge of her cargo before docking to have the broken blade replaced. The new blade will probably be fitted at Sydeny.

The City of Batavia is to sail to-mor-row for Wellington.
