MAUNGAKIEKIE CLUB

Owing to the wet weather, the match between the Maungakiekie and Glendowie Golf Clubs, to have been held on Saturday, was abandoned.

The bogey handicap for the captain's prize was won by H. Keesing, 3 up. F. Ballin, all square, was second.

The first round of the match play handicap, which was postponed owing to the adverse weather conditions, will be played at One Tree Hill next Saturday. A C grade match for Mr. Reid's trophy will be played next FrWay.

NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL.

BALMACEWAN TO BE INSPECTED,

A special meeting of the council of the New Zealand Golf Association in Wellington was attended by Messrs W. E. A. Gill (chairman), A. D. S. Duncan, A. J. Abbott, H. R. Balneavis, Captain Conway and Sir Alexander Roberts.

The meeting was called for the purpose of coming to a decision regarding the inspection of the Balmacewan links, in view of the resolution of the last annual general meeting at Hamilton. After full discussion it was resolved that Mr. C. H. Redhead, of Rotorua, should be asked to go down to Dunedin to report to the council upon the Balmacewan links as regards their suitability for holding the 1928 championship meeting.

With regard to the recent New Zealand championship tournament held at Hamilton, the following resolution, proposed by Mr. A. D. S. Duncan,, was unanimously carried: "That the council desires to record its keen appreciation of the efficient manner in which the arrangements in connection with the recent New Zealand championship meeting were carried out by the secretary and officials of the Hamilton Golf Club, and to thank the tournament committee of that club for its ready assistance and co-oper-tion with the secretary of this association

AUCKLAND CLUB.

The first round of the 54 holes medal conk petition was played by members of the Auckland Golf Club at Middlemore on Saturday. The course was In excellent order but wind and heavy rain made playing conditions difficult. Following are the results :—H. Henderson, 92 —16 —76; H. Rees, 83—4—79 ; R. Johnston, 90—10—80; A.
