Carrying play into the opposing circle where a scrummage ensued, and the Areta goal was heavily bombarded. Ninkle made some line saves, and play shlfted to mldfleld. A Somerville forward rush reached the circle and Ellison saved. From mldfleld Seccombe opened an onriaught and, passing with Watts brothers, C. Watts turned the ball into the net. Somerville 3. Areta 2. After a period of defensive play, L. Carter broke away and centring to J. Cnrter, the centre forward steered the bal between the Somerville backs and streaked for the circle. Travelling at a great pace his shot went wide. Play drifted back to Areta territory, , The blacks retaliated with a couple ef telling onslaughts on the Sometville citadel without result.
