AUCKLAND HOSPITAL CASES
The casualty department of Auckland Hospital had a busy week-end, many accident victims requiring attention. The majority of them are still inpatients. Mrs. Emily Charman, aged 70, of 39, Auckland Road, Onehunga, fractured her arm through falling down a flight of steps on Saturday evening. She is progresing favourably. Not so satisfactory is the condition of Mr. G. H. Wilson, aged 51, of 3, Gardiner Terrace, who was admitted yesterday morning suffering from an injury to the back and internal injuries stated to be due to a fall. He is not yet, out of danger. A child of eight years named Antonia Cockburn lies in the institution suffering from severe burns, caused through her clothes becoming ignited whilst she was playing with methylated spirits at hpr home, Buckland's Beach, last evening. The relatives of' the youth J. Casey, of Picton Street. Ponsonby, who sustained head injuries whilst playing for Point Chevalier on Saturday, will be relieved to hear that he is not seriously hurt. ACCIDENT ON SHIP. working on the steamer Ivatoa at the Prince's wharf this morning, Mr. E. Bailey, a married man, felj on the deck and injured his right shoulder. He was taken to the Auckland Hospital by the St. John Ambulance, and will there await an X-ray examination. STRUCK BY FALLING WOOD. Mr. Jack Ash, a married man, 31 years old, was injured while working at Nathan's bond store, Fort Street, this morning. Mr. Ash, who was engaged there as a carpenter, was struck on the head by a piece of flooring which fell eight feet. He was taken to the Auckland Hospital by the St. John Ambulance, and there treated for his injuries. His condition is not serious. CAR AND BUS COLLIDE. (By Telegraph.—Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. A collision between a Mlue bus and a motor car driven by Mr. K. Calder, occurred in Grey Street, Hamilton East, on Saturday night. A crowd collected, and in trying to avoid the people, Mr. J. J. Drummond, driving another car, also collided with the bus. Both cars were damaged, but nobody was injured.
MANAGER'S HAND CRUSHED.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PAHIATUA, this day. Denis Kelly, manager of the Konini butter factory, had a hand crushed while assisting in the removal of a vat. His little finger had to be amputated. COLLISION ON HUTT ROAD. THREE MEN INJURED. v ißff Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, Sunday. T! tree men were injured in a collision between a motor car and a motor cycle on the Hutt Road, between Trentham and Upper Hutt. They were Mr. Norman Parata and Mr. Jack Aldridge, who were riding on the cycle, and Mr. J. Frame, married, aged 43, of Upper Hutt, a passenger in the motor car. The motor cycle was going toward Upper Hutt, and the car was travelling in the opposite direction, when the collision occurred. The two men on the cycle were thrown some distance. Mr. Frame suffered head injuries, which are not considered to be serious. The other two men each sustained a fractured leg and abrasions. Their condition is serious.
