MURDER ALLEGED
NEWLY-BORN INFANT.
MAN CHARGED AT KAITAIA.
SEARCH FOR BABY'S BODY. REMAND GRANTED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) K*AITAIA, this day. A charge of murdering the illegitimate child of Rosie Te Whiu was made against Paul Lendich, a middle-aged Dalmatian, in the Police Court on Saturday. The murder is alleged to have been committed on or about August 23. The police are reticent, but the allegation agaihst Lendich is that he took the newly-born infant and threw it into a swamp. Three constables, with Detective De Norville, have been searching for the .body, but so far without success. On the application of the police, Mr. L. Macintosh, J. P., remanded accused to appear on September 24.
