MUSIC FROM ENGLAND.
PROGRAMME HEARD PLAINLY
MR. MARCUSE'S TESTS
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CHRJSTCHURCH, Wednesday. The voice of Mr. Gerald Marcusc, the English radio amateur, of station 2KM, was heard with wonderful clarity in Christchurch last evening. From his hc:ae in Caterham, Kent, Mr. JJarcuse broadcast greetings to the people of the British Empire. The reception of the speech was perfect, and a musical programme was enjoyed for over an hour. The transmission was picked up at 5.30 p.m., and was held until the station j closed down at 6.35 p.m. Transmission throughout was steady and both music and speech were followed with ease. This reception is unique, it is beloved to be the first occasion on which Ei.glish amateur telephony has been heard at such strength in New Zealand. The transmission was on 32.0 metres, mid tuning was very critical.
It was stated that regular transmissions to the Dominions had not begun yet, and that 2NM was making only test broadcasts.
