STABLE AND TRACK MOTES.

J. McLaughlin. with Lausanne and Golden Prospect, H. Pritehard with Royal Game, H. Kingan with Australia and W. Young with Carrigallen, left Trentham for Wanganui on Monday.

C. Hodder has added to hia team a chestnut mare by Catmint from Whitford Belle. She is a sister to Mint Belle, who contested the Novice Stakes at the' Marton meeting oil Saturday last.

Arihana, who was recommissioned by F. Gilchrist a short time back, is among the horses that are working at Ellerslie. He is now a well-grown three-year old, although he may not be raced until later on in the season.

W. Townsend is expected to put in an appearance at Ellerslie during the next week. He will have three of his team— 'Barometer, Quincoma and Royal Doulton —racing at the Avondale meeting at the end of this month.

Blue Spear, who has been spelling during the winter months, has commenced work again under J. Lambese' care at Ellerslie. The Catmint gelding was in training for a few months hist season but has not yet raced.

Marble Boy, who has been in work at Ellerslie for some months, will be given a race at the Avondale meeting. The Marble Arch gelding has not raced since the 1924-25 season, and may require a few races before he is at his best.

Desert Knight has been shaping well in toft few sprinting tasks that have been allotted him during the last few weeks at Ellerslie. He is now looking very ■olid as far as condition is concerned and is a likely sort to show up in hack events during the spring meetings*

S. Wiggins will attend the Wanganui meeting and will ride Whenuanui, Tea Time, Athenry, Liaeon, Royal Land and Afloway. W. Bagby, who has now taken up kis residence at Ellerslie, will also go to Wanganui and has been engaged to ride David Garrick on the opening day.

Sir Archie has not been doing anyUrfng ia the way of fact work on the track at headquarters recently. All the same, the big chestnut horse is looking in good fettle at the present time and -will onry require a few sharp sprints to put him in good racing trim.

Gala Bay continues to get through plenty of useful work at Ellerslie and prqprisee to be in good form when the Avandmle meeting comes along. He won tke Nihotupn Handicap at the corresponding ixtdre last year, but has failed te score another win since then.

Laughing Prince, the Australian-bred colt, is due to make his first appearance as a three-year-old at the Wanganui races to-morrow. Last season Laughing Prinee showed good frm, and at the

Wellington autumn meeting was sold by Mr. W. J. Jorgensen to Mr. T. A. Duncan. The next day he won the Pacific Handicap for his new owner. That was his last start.

J. W. Lowe, wno lias his active brigade at present at Wanganui, sent back the two-year-olds Jet Black and Salt Petrel to Trentham on Monday in charge of H. Crawford. They knocked their legs slightly, and while it is nothing at all serious, Lowe considered it wise to send them home than to race them in the Debutante Stakes.

Beacon light, who is an acceptor in the Marangai Handicap to be run at the Wanganui spring meeting to-morrow, won the Higgie Handicap, one mile and a-quarter, at the corresponding meeting last season. He then came on to Ellerslie and won the Avondale Cup, which was his next start in public. Beacon Light contested four races last season and won three of them, his final victory being registered in the Champion Plate at the Wellington spring meeting. The Boniform gelding will only require to train on satisfactorily to again have a chance in important handicaps during the current season.

The scratching of Agrlon for the AJ.C Derby will be received with regret by racing men in Mew Zealand for the son of Limon had only to keep sound to play an important part in the decision of that event. Some weeks ago he developed heel trouble, but according to
