PARIS, September 5,
A perplexing tragedy is reported from Dreux, where a farm lad, aged 13, was found hanged. His employer and sole companion, an old woman named Louise Aubert, had previously complained that the boy had stolen her money. This the boy had denied.
The boy later admitted that he stole from a neighbouring farm but eaid he did so in obedience by the orders of Mme. Aubert. The latter tnen went into a violent rage and ordered the boy to leave the farm.
On the finding of the boy's dead body next evening the old woman was apparently unruffled. She then complained that she had lost a bag containing 25,000 francs. The police found this untouched beneath the boy's feet.
The doctor's opinion is that death had occurred the day previously. The police are unable to get anything out of Mme. Aubert, except complaints against the lad.— (A. and X.Z. and Sydney "Sun."')
