PROFESSIONAL AND AMATEUR. FIRST ROUND RESULTS. FIXE FORM BY McINTOSH. (By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) 'HAMILTON, this. day. Wonderful weather greeted the golfer* this morning for the start of the Amateur and Professional Championships. St. Andrews links were looking their best. The greens are becoming very fast, and the balls on the fairways arc having a lon- carry. The bogey handicap is also being played. The first round of both championships is over 36 holes, match play instead of strokes. After the morning round the positions were as under:— Professionals. E. J. Moss, 2 up on J. A. Clements. R. C. Butters, 2 up on C. C. Clements J. R. Galloway, 1 up on A. J. Mills. J. D. Mclntosii. G up oa H. R. Blair
Amateurs. H. W. Tidmash, 3 up on M. Macßeth. Sloan Morpeth, G up on Blank. Galloway was 4 up on Shaw at the thirteenth, but Shaw pulled up 3 at the eighteenth. Mclntosh was playing par golf. He finished the morning round with a score equal to 71, and put no lees than six stymies across Blair. Moss did equal to 74, and was sending down a beautiful long ball. Horton, 9 up on Frank Quin. ' It. D. Wright, 1 up on Goss. Grey, 3 up on Kapi Tareha. George. 1 up on Dale. A. D. S. Duncan, 4 up on Hussev. Lusk, 2 up on MacEwan. Jack Black, 8 up on Wiggins. Sime and Bellingham, all square.
