The Auckland ladies met Feilding in their second match. The tourney has suffered great misfortune matter cf weather, and had to be postponed through the playing conditions being rendered impossible by one of the severest thunderstorms which Palmerston North has experienced for a number of years. The grounds were very soft, with several small pools scattered over them. This did not prevent Auckland team from playing a much better game than when they met Otago on Wednesday,^and their victory of 1-0 was well merited, thnngfc they have little chance to getting in the finals if they can inflict only a goal defeat on Feilding, which is regarded as a poor team.
Although opportunities were restricted, excellent play wms displayed by both teams. Auckland, through slightly superior combination, had the bigger share of the ball. Miss Chirney, in goal, gave one of the best displays of the day, saving her side time after time. Miss R- Black was also on top form, but was hurt and although carried on was obviously handicapped. In the forwards Miss Dawson was here, there and everywhere, and was an inspiration to the rest of the team. To-morrow Auckland meets South Canterbury, one of the best teams at the tourney. To-night all visitors are guests of the association at a dance, at which there will be over 300 present. PALMERSTON X, this day. Following are the results of matches played to-day in the inter pn »* inriml hockey tournament:— A SECTION. Canterbury 3, beat Taranaki 0. Wairarapa 2, beat Manawatu B 0.
