GRANDFATHER'S PROPERTY.

DUNEDIN, this day.
Mr. John Cochrane McLachlan, of Dunedin, being in possession of the necessary particulars, some of which haTe been recently acquired, is now definitely a claimant for what is known aa the Clippens Estate, the ownership of which has not been proved for 70 years. Clippens is in the County of Renfrew, Scotland. The gross value is •aid to be £3,000,000.
Mr. McLachlan proposes to go without delay to Britain to make his claim.
The estate was left by Dr. Peter Cochrane, of Clippens, Renfrewshire, one of the founders of the East India Company. Mr McLachlan is his grandson, and, being now np in years, he has given power of attorney to his son, Mr. William Cochrane McLauchlan, also of Dunedin.
