WELLINGTON, Friday.
The conference which took place between the late Hon. R. F. Bollard and representatives of the New Zealand Racing Conference in connection with the difficulty between the Waikato Racing Club and the Waikato Hunt Club respecting the allotment of Labour Day for a race meeting has resulted in an amicable settlement being reached by all parties concerned. The Waikato Racing Club is to be allotted a totalisator license for meetings to be held on Friday, October 21, and Saturday, October 22, and the Waikato Hunt Club U to hare the Labour Day date.
The following statement baa been handed to the Press for publication: "As a result of negotiations which have been proceeding the Waikato Racing Club has agreed to hold its spring meeting this year on Friday ana Saturday, October 21 and 22, thus leaving Labour Day, October 24, open to the Waikato Hunt Dub, in conformity with a promise given to the latter dub by the late Minister of Internal Affairs. In regard to future procedure in connection with totalisator licenses and dates of race meetings upon which such licenses are to be used by racing, jockey and hunt dubs, a definite understanding waa arrived at between the Minister of Internal Affairs and representatives of the New Zealand Racing Conference. The terms of the agreement are aa follow:—
"1. (a) All application* for totali*ator licenses by mijt racing, jockey or hunt club in any year sba.ll be made to the Minister of Internal Affairs, as provided by statute; (b) all applications for totalisatnr licenses shall be considered by the New Zealand Racing Conference, which shall forward its recommendations thereon to the Minister of Internal Affairs; (c) in the event of the Minister of
Internal Affair* not agreeing to any nrticulir license at recommended by tne New Zealand Racing Conference, tie president or the date# comraittec of tie Xew Zealand Racing Conference shall appoint two representatives of the dates committee to confer with lie Minister of Internal Affair* thereon; (d) in tic event of no agreement being arrived at in any particular case by the Minister and such representative# of the ww«enoe the Minister shall then finally determine the patter. "2. As bu already been stated the allotment of date* for race meeting* is a matter for the New Zealand Racing Conference, which at all. times trdl «ve the fullest consideration "to any local or other conditions placed before it by any club in regard to it* date*." General satisfaction ha* been expressed that an amicable arrangement has been arrived at in the difficult? between tie two Wattcato dubs regarding tic allot mcnt of Labour Day this year- 11 » felt the agreement come to ha* removed difficulties which ha** existed and will prove to be in tic best interests of tie sport.
