tall from gangway. MAN DROPS ON TO BUMPER. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. Joseph Camplin, a well-known piano tuner of Auckland, had a narrow escape from death when he was boarding the steamer Claymore last night. i The steamer was leaving the Whangarei town wharf for Auckland. As Mr. Camplin was crossing the gangway, it fell, precipitating him between the wharf and the ship'B Bide. Fortunately, he landed on the bnmper stringer, and he was quicklyhoisted to safety none the worse except for bruises and shock.
