HARBOUR BRIDGE.
Further Delay by Labour Trouble. HIGHSJSi WAGES DEMANDED. (Received 12 noon.) SYDNEY, this day. As a result of a strike of boilermakers' and ironworkers' assistants empolyed on the harbour bridge, all erection work has stopped. Work at the quarries, which provide stone for the bridge, has also stopped owing to the strike of crane drivers, and altogether 500 men are idle. . The men demand an extra £1 10/ weekly for working at heights. As the contract of the construction company with the Government provides for the payment of award rates only, the management has refused the demand, and the men were advised that the Government alone could authorise the increase in payments asked for.
