WEST COAST ROAD.
?BOPOS£9 KECOfTSTRTTCTIOir. GLEN EDEN AGAIN ACTIVE.
The proposed reconstruction cf the West Coast Road has again been brought liefore the City Council by the Glen Eden Town Board. At the council meeting last evening the city engineer, in a special report, stated that it would be remembered that a commission appointed by the Public Works Act was held in reference to a previous proposal for a concrete road when the council was cited and that the result of the Commission wis that the provision of a concrete road was held t<* &e unnecessary. The Glen Eden Town Board, Mr. Bush stated, had now amended its proposals and provided for the construction of a bitumen sealed road, for which the estimates were £12,111 5/. Before reporting he Lad endeavoured to ascertain what the proportions were which the Commissioner. Mr. W. S- Short, recommended the Government to gazette but he was advised that these cannot j be disclosed until the issue of the Governor's warrant. The estimate, however, seemed ample for the type of road to be put down and, presumably, tenders would be called. la regard to the bridge, the estimate was £1407 10/6, which was reasonable. The engineer recommended that the matter be referred to the city solicitor to safeguard the interests of the council. , The recommendation was adopted.
