NORTHUMBERLAND'S MISHAP.
EFFORT TO LOCATE BOCK. SEARCH BY WAKAKURA.
Another attempt to locate the unharted rock north of Gis borne wiich the Federal steamer Northumberland struck m January 25 last, is to be made by the minesweeper Wakakura next week. Some ■reeks ago the Government steamer Tutanekai carried oat an unsuccessful ■earch.
During the course of the Wakakura's iperations, on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nest, an area five miles in a north and south direction and five miles in an east and west direction, with Northumberland rock as centre, ■will be marked by unlit buoys. Shipmasters are -eq ties ted to keep clear of this area after lark. The position of the rock was reported by the ma-ter of the Northumberland as atiiude 3?deg 41-? ruin south, longitude i 7Sdea 14f,min east.
