| Mr. H. C. Hemphill, county clerk and treasurer, to-day received telegraphic advice from Mr. W. Jones, MJ», that he had been successful in raising the balance of the Otonga reading loan of £3500 from the Public Trust Office at ®. P« r cent interest, with a 1 per cent sinking fund, for a period of 36J years. The original loan of £12,250 was authorised by the ratepayers five years ago, since when the metal has been extended on the three main riding roads. The fourth and final instalment will be the completion of the Otonga, Whananalci, Whakapara, Helena Bay, and Whakapara-Puhipuhi roads. The expenditure to date has resulted in an appreciable reduction in the rates for the cartage of cream.
