T.B. SHELTERS.
COUNCIL SITE SELECTED.
Arising out of tlie reccnt confercncc between representatives of organisations interested in the matter of a suitable site for the erection of T.B. shelters, the Parks Committee recommended to the City Council last night that it agreed to make available a site adjacent to the Auckland Hospital subject to the huts being placed in positions to be approved by the Superintendent of Parks. » The committee suggested that such huts should be limited to providing accommodation for the 11 cases at present at the Domain and four additional cases to be transferred from the Cost ley shelters. A further provision was that as each hut was vacated it should immediately be removed. The proposal was agreed to. Conditions Not Acceptable. It would seem that the decision of the City Council is not altogether accrptablc to those who have been conferring of late on behalf of the Hospital Board, Patriotic Association, Red Cross Society, and Returned Soldiers' Association. "I think there will be some very plain speaking," said Mr. D. H. Sharp", secretary of the R.S.A., to a reporter thi< morning, in referring to a meeting ot these representatives that is to l>c held this afternoon at the Chamber of Commerce. "What we are concerned about," lie said, "is the restriction the City Council has placed upon the u*c of the site. They insist that as each hut is no longer required by its former occupaut it shall be removed. This means that gradually all the huts will be removed and that any additional cases that may need them will be debarred from comi.i"there. "We are not at all satisfied with tie conditions," added Mr. Sharp. "We feel that the City Council should make the site available for as long as the hnt« may be required by genuine patients."
