OTAHUHU LOAN AUTHORISED.
At a special meeting of the Otahuhu iSorough Council last evening advice was received to tlie effect that the Local Government Loans Board had authorised a loan of £2900 to the borough to be spent on local relief work. The loan will cany a subsidy of £1160, which will be within a small amount of the ram applied for. The Mayor explained that the expedition with which the loan was raised was largely duo to the efforts of Mr. E. D McLennan, member for the district, to whom the thanlcs of the council are to be forwarded. It is intended to place about twenty men in employment almost immediately, preference being given to local married men out of employment, afld the award rate of wages will be paid.
