UNIVERSITY STAFF.
ASSISTANTS TO BE APPOINTED. Two part-time assistants to the Professor of Classics, and also to the Professor of Modern Languages, at the Auckland University College are to be appointed for correction work. The College Council, in deciding upon the appointments yesterday, adopted a recommendation from the Education Committee, which had considered the annual reports of the professors. The assistants would be senior students of the college. It was also resolved to appoint a fulltime assistant to the Professor of Mathematics. A recommendation was adopted that the council apply to the Government for an annual grant for the School of Architecture in the effort to have it placed on the same basis as other special schools with regard to post-graduate scholarships and bursaries. The national edowment grant showed an increase of £23 11/9 over last year, the amount being £1076 11/9. A' new set of regulations regarding the keeping of terms was presented by the Professorial Board, and approved.
