New Zealand Hockey Tourists Win Again. COMBINED 'VARSITIES BEATEN. SYDNEY, August 15. Tin;-New Zealand hockey team to-day defeated a combined team from the Australian Universities by 10 goals to two. •The weather was bright and the sun warm. New Zealand won the toss and played with the sun behind them. Their standard of play was not up to that of Saturday. The visitors did not take advantage of all their opportunities. The Universities' team was lighter and had the advantage of speed. Within a couple of minutes of _ the start Hogg scored for the Universities. Then play sco-sawed up and down, until the closing stapes of the first half, when the New Zealand players showed their superiority. When the first half ended New Zea> land had scored five goals and the Universities two. For New Zealand in this. spell Sec* combe scored two goals and Bell three, and for tho Universities Hogg and Far* mer scored. Play in the second half was seldom out of the Universities' territory. Simmonds, the goalkeeper, was , continually bombarded and made some splendid saves. Cole, Watts and Bell were always prominent in the visitors' attacks. The Universities failed to add to their score, but' , the New Zealanders doubled their total. \ . The final scores were: New Zealand, 10 goals; Universities, 2.
