Performed By Dunedin Medical Student. INCISION WITH SCISSORS. LONDON, August, 7. An aniuzing operation for apjiomlicitis on a seaman of the steamer Port Auckland was performed on the dining table of the ship by a Dunedin medical student, Mr. Arthur Hotherinjiton. 'n,,. ship was rounding Cape Horn at the time.

Mr. Hetherington had to improvise everything. An incision was made with a pair of toilet scissors, and the patients tongue was kept in position with a safety pin.

After the operation the seaman had an attack of acute bronchitis, but he survived and was landed in the fittest condition.— (A. and X.Z. and Svchiev "Sun."')
