One of the fu.-hion freaks that has attracted much comment in London is the handbag that bears a lifelike resemblance either to a pot Peke, a Kin? Charles spaniel, or a collie pup. Curiously enough, the enterprising leading spirit of one at least of the firms exhibiting these novelties seems to regard them mainly as aids to publicity. 1 heard him kindly and candidly counselling one y.iung woman not to make a purchase. as it was infinitely improbable that ladies of taste would adopt the mode. The fashion, however, threatens to become a Mayfair craze, and orders have poured into the London house that anticipated only a ••news" paragraph in the PIC.-S.
One of Mayfair's moit sumptuous houses is Sir Philip Sassoon's in Park Lane. A particularly lovely room has , wall decorations of-velvet in an admirable shade of blue. Sir Philip is a won-! derful host and has a flair for collecting personalities as original and as entertaining as the mise-en-scene that makes such an excellent background for their varied gifts. His musicales are famous. and he has helped to bring fame, moreover, to more than one young artist.
