CHANNEL SWIM.
• 3ED BY LONDON CLEBK. (Received 12 noon.) LONDON", August 5. A London clerk named Temme, swam the Channel from tape Gri»nez to near Dover. Temme is the first to cross the Channel this season, but there are as many aspirants as last year, including Mrs. Corson, who is attempting from Dover. Temme's official time was 14h 29m. thereby beating Gertrude Ederle's time by five minutes. He left Cape <iris Nez at 1.10 in the morning: and landed at Lydden*s Point, midway between Folkestone and Dover, at 3.39 p.m. Temme is 29 years of age, six feet two, and weighs lost 111b. He is a sprinter as well as a swimmer. The sea was calm.
