FAITH AND ORDER CONVENTION

(By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.)

LAUSANNE. August o

I At the first session of the World j Conference on Faith and Orde"r the J delegates debated the matter of the I necessity for unity among Christians. A Lutheran pastor assured the confer- ; euce that the Lutheran movements de- : sired collaboration. ! The Archbishop of Germany. who represented the Oecumenical PatriarI chate of Constantinople. said the j branches of the Orthodox Church , favoured the old principles of Christiani ity. i The Archbishop of Armagh, Dr. C. F. [ D'Arcy, said it was desirable above all j things that they should approach the I question in a religious spirit, especially 1 as regarded problems of dogma. i Dr. F. J. McConnell. a bishop of the j Methodi-t Episcopal Church of America, i appealed to the Churches to evangelise : the world on the basis of the original 1 Gospels, instead of on the lines of ! modern interpretations of the Gospels. Christianity, which the bishop said j was trying to live a* Jesus did, must be ; applied to all spheres of life.
