FIRE AT PAKURANGA.
Fire completely gutted the ten-roomed two-storeyed brick house of Mr. Robert S. Thompson, farmer, of Pakuranga, yesterday afternoon. Mr. Thompson was away from the house at the time of the outbreak, and Mrs. Thompson was sewing in a front room. She had been drying some clothes before the kitchen fire, and on coming out of the front room had found the kitchen was ablaze. As there is no fire brigade in the district there was no hope of saving the place. There was no insurance on the furniture and effects. The house was insured in the New Zealand Office for £1400.
