HISTORY OP THE RACE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WANGANUI, this day.
Following upon the inauguration of the Maori Congress, the chiefs representing the Wanganui River interests, who gathered together at Arohanui spent a strenuous time going into matters of detail in relation to past history. A visit was paid to the museum where certain documents were inspected in- view of' action being taken. The discussion continued in the Kaiwharawhara Wharepuni until midnight. It was a striking feature of the indications of unity which animated, the gathering, which was probably one of the most representative that has taken | place in Wanganui for years past. There lis pronounced feeling of hope for the future success of the congress.
