Heavy rain fell during the night, a fall of 3in being recorded in Gisborne.. This ' morning a cloud-burst occurred in the Waimata Valley, and the river rose 35ft at Savage's, 20 nrfles fr,om Gisborne, wrecked the house of a drover named Robb, and carried away two bridges and a wool shed. Some losses of stock are also reportedThe township has been cut off from Gisborne.
The rivers are in fresh in other parts of the district, but no serious damage is reported. .«.":.'
