EMPOWERING LEGISLATION". (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLIXGTOX, this day.. The Premier promised a deputation, representing the Hospital Boards' Association, that he would consider a request for legislation empowering boards to collect fees from single men without dependents in accident cases. He would also consider a request for means of collecting fees from Maori patients, but denied the truth of a general assertion that Maoris do not pay rates.
