BAKER ESCAPES DEATH

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. A steam cylinder in the premises of •I. C. Free and Sons, butchers and bakers, Leeston, exploded early this morning. Mr. C. Bishop, the baker, who was on the premises at the time, had a remarkable escape from death. Parts of the broken cylinder flew out through the roof, scattering the. rafters in the process, and sending bricks and iron flying through the air.
