CASES OF TYPHOID.
IN NORTH AUCKLAND. YOUNG NURSES INFECTED. DI>EAM-; OF .MILD FORM. The Health Department ha* been notified of several ea-e* of typhoid, or enterk- fever, in the North Auckland district. Fixe ineinliei'a of a Maori family residing at Kaikoho contracted the disease in mild form last week. Thov are now in isolation at the Bay of Inland* Hospital. In addition to the>e cases. -i\ patients, including three young nur-e-. arc suffering from the di.-ease in the Whaiii:arei Hospital. Ii i> believed that the nursee caught the fever from n Maori removed to the institution, but who was not suspected of having the disease The other victim- of the scourge arc n. child and a young woman. It i* understood the form of the disease is very mild, with the exception of tin- rase of one of t!.e nurse*. The health authorities are taking every precaution to prevent the spread of the disease, and Dr. Turbott. assistant medical officer of health, wa» dispatched to Whangarei last week to investigate matters.
