ARKANSAS AGAIN.
Rescue Workers Driven Back
To the Hills.
LEVEE BREAKS FEARED,
N£W YORK, June 7,
Some of the farmers in the eastern part of Arkansas who were engaged in the work on rehabilitation were again driven. to the hills by fresh floods. These now threaten to devastate the country of Crittenden. Residents who recently abandoned the mountain relief camps in which they had been confined since the outbreak of the recent floods have made striking progress toward reconstruction. Now, however, the impending torrent, *"hich is the result of the overflowing of the four largest rivers in the State, threatens to drive upwards of 20.000 of them back to the hills. Trouble had been feared for the past few days owing to the torrential falls of rain. For that reason the workers engaged by the Department of Commerce remained in the vicinity. All the streams in Arkansas are now practically in flood acrain. The authorities anticipate That at any moment there may be further breaks in the levees and » consequent re flooding of the adjacent lands.
