FAREWELL TO DR. BUCK.

-An old-time Maori welcome will he given by the Mangere Maoris this evening in the Orpbeum Hall, Onehunga, to Dr. Peter Buck, who is leaving shortly to take up an important post at Honolulu. He will be received by a genuine "powhiri," and escorted to the dais, where he and Mrs. Buck will be seated. The "korero" will be in proper Maori form, which is rather more picturesque than the usual "few appropriate words" of the average pakeha gathering of the kind. There will, of coxirse, be a presentation of gifts to both Dr. and Mrs. Buck, and sandwiched in between the talk and the ceremony will be some dances, which will be quite pakeha in style.
