Mr. Hodges Explains Decision
To Resign.

PARIS, May 30.
After his resignation of the position of secretary, following a stormy meeting of the International Miners' Federation, Mr. Frank Hodges explained the situation in an interview after the meeting.
Hβ said a sub-committee consisting of M. Djardin (Belgium). Herr Husemann (Germany) nnd Mr. W. P. Richardson (Britain) had inquired whether his acceptance of the post on the Electricity Com mission would be incompatible with his duties as secretary. Mr. Djardin and Heir Husemann had reported that there would be no incompatibility, but Mr. Richardson had dissented.
Mr. Hodges declared thnt his decision to resign was owing to his desire to regain unfettered liberty. Also the rendering of service to his fellow countrymen was making increasing calls on his time, especially his full collaboration in the task of enabling the British mining industry to pain a share in the advantages of the higher technique of applied science and sound organisation.
Mr. Frank Horlpes. who is 3S ye&vti of aj*e. is the youngest of the prominent Labour lenders. He became secretary of the International Miners' Federation in 1925.
