BATHS AT POINT CHEVALIER.
In reply to your correspondent. "Not Wanted." 1 would like to say it is evident be docs not '..now where the baths are to be built. It i« recognised by resident? that the bath* site in it« present state is a danger to children. Kmpty tins and bottles are thrown from the rlifi close handy to the beach by picnic parties. I have witnessed a serious accident through this. Personally, I do not think the baths sit* will encroach on the beach, and this is a verr poor argument why the baths should not be built. "Not Wanted" says the beach at low tide is just a> good as at full tide. I must differ. In the first place, it is very uncomfortable to walk out to the very shallow water to bathe, also accidents happen to children when parents are not present, which would not happen nt high tide. A little boy was nearly drowned last year through the parents not being handy and the child bathing at low tide. The baths will be very convenient for the public in a growing district. As regards the contractor having already picked his men to build the baths, will "Not Wanted" please consider this question? Supposing <he contractor did not have this contract, would he pay his picked men a wage or would these supposed picked men have to compete in the labour market ? CHARLES TAULL.
