FRENCH CLUB.
SUCCESSFUL DANCE.

The ballroom was a most attractive scene. Japanese lanterns, many coloured and multifarious, were suspended from the ceiling, making a keleidoscope of colour with the pretty frocks below. On the walls were panels of old Japan, and at one end was a lily-pool emooth and clear, sheltered by clusters of feathery bamboo. All the little alcoves were decorated with bamboo and great clusters of Japanese chrysanthemums arranged in loug-necked vases. The musician's stand was decked with pot plants and trellis entwined with couvolvuli, and supper was served at little blue tables round the room, on which were vases of orange-coloured flowers.
