The Xew Zealand University footballers were to-day defeated by the Sydney University team by 31 points to 12, in the first Test matci. New Zealand lost tie toss and kicked off with a strong wiad and the sun in their faces. Sydney immediately attacked, bat Pacey relieved witi a well-judged kick. Flynn marked inside hie own half aid kicked down the field. A likely Sydney passing rush saw Uμ ball come out on tie New Zealand line. Loveridse and Lindsay transferred plar to the Sydney line, but the Sydney men took advantage of the wind and the ball went back to .Vew Zealand territory. From a line-out Sydney secured the ball and after a passing rath Fost* scored in the corner. Roes failed to convert.
