CONTRACTORS BUSY.
NEW BUILDING AND BRIIXiE.
("FrouJ Our Own Correspondent.) OPOTIKf, this day. Extensive building operations are at present being carried out in the tow n. Messrs. Boon and Sullivan, contractors of Whakatane. have practically completed the new brick and concrete building for the Union Bank of Australia. Ltd.. in Chun-h Street. The cost is a little over £4000. Mr. A. Stacey, of Otahuhu, has nearly finished the new Alhambra Theatre for Messrs. McOrevy Bros. The building presents a massive appearance and will he capable of seating 740 persons. The cost of the theatre is in the vicinity of £10,00rt. Mr. E. Brooks is making rapid progress with the ferro concrete bridge across the Waioeka River. Over £30.iM0 will have been expended on the bridge before it is completed. Local builders are experiencing a busy time erecting business premises and : residences.
