THE RIVER OF ENTRIES

OVERFLOWED ITS BANKS

PETER PAN KEPT VERY BUSY.

Dca , :.- 2nd Girls, — Although I expected a Urge number of entries for the Jumble Names Competition, i was astonished to see how many really came. Some cf you have done surprisingly well. If I hadn't jumbled the names myself, i couldn't have guessed half of them. The entries for Competition 15, where you had to supply the beginning and ending of a story, were in some cases quite clever. Many of you, however, seem to have written -your own tale without properly reading what 1 had given. All the jiggle pictures this, week are taken from the winning drawings you have done yourselves, and you will see that they are quite good, too. Don't forget what I told you last time about using Indian ink. We can't possibly publish your picture if it's drawn with anything else, no matter how good it may be, and as this will be a weekly competition, it will be worth your while buying a bottle. Competitions 23 and 24 are, as you will notice, for girls and boys rerpectively. The contributions submitted will alt be put up for sale on our stall at the AH Auckland Fair, It may take any form whatever that you consider suitable. No doubt many of you have ready by this time a number of articles that you intend for the stall. If so, send them in and try for a pri«e. Don't forget to attach to the parcel your name, address and age; and specify clearly for 'which competition you wish to enter. Ns girl would be pleased to think that her particularly fine and dainty piece of fancywork was being judged among the boys' entries. If the contributions for these two competitions are as numerous as I hope and expect, I foresee that we shall have a very busy time judging them.
