SENSELESS ACT.

Lifebuoy Thrown Overboard

at Night.

HARAMA TURNS BACK.

SYDNEY, May 3

On the second night out from Wellington, the officer on watch on the Marama noticed a light astern.

As the ship had not passed any vessel he called the ship's master, who ordered the steamer to be put back.

It was then found that the light was attached to a buov from the Marama.

Next morning it was discovered that three lifebuoys and a large roll of matting had been'maliciously thrown overboard from the deck. " ~
