1927 STARTS WELL. That the tkle of immigration to Canada is rising rapidly is made apparent in nn unusually heavy movement for the elulv part of the year The Department of Immigration and Colonisation reports that 4164 immigrants came to Canada in January as compared with 2324 in the correspondmg month of last year, an increase of -9 per cent. British immigrants in Janum , whilc 9IK ' cume f rom the United States, and 2360 from other countries In the ten months of the fiscal year ended January 31, 1027. 118.190 immigrants came to C anada, compared with 76,430 for the same period a year ago.
