Priestley, of Wellington, who. competing in the mile, clipped li\c M'l-onds off hi» own record of 4.31 4-.1 for the distance, established in 1924. He was pushed over the last half mile by a promising runner in E. 11. Taylor, of Canterbury, who was distressed when he. finished but a yard behind (lie winner, who lias profifed greatly by experience in competition with Itandolph I!o*c. the Australasian champion. }..
