WORLD'S MOST POTENT FERTILISER.
At tlio inaugural meetim: of tiio International Superphosphate Manufacturers' Association. h<-ld in L<>n<lr>n on IVcembcrj 14 nnd 1"> la>t, it was stated that the; world"? consumption of superphosphate is calculated to bo 13,(KX>,000 tons per' annum, fa Ini luted in term's of pure' phosphoric nrid, the world's annual con- 1 sumption is about 2..V)0,000 tons, ns com- r pared with 1.000.000 tons nitrogen con-j sumption, nnd 1 ..'J.Vi.Ooo tons potash consumption. The world's need of phosphoric' acid is, therefore, considerably more thanj that of the other two fertilisers taken! together, a fact which corresponds with! i importance for the building up of all' vegetable nnd animal life. The more intensive the cultivation of crops and' the breeding of domestic animals, the more does it become necessary to place at their di-»j>o*al. especially in their early' stages, an easily-assimilable form of phosphoric acid. Superphosphate is the , only fertiliser providing phosphoric acid in a water-soluble form.
