The weather was fine for the final gallops at Ellerslie this morning, but before breakfast a fog over the five and four furlong posts made timing impossible. After breakfast the atmospheric conditions improved. There were a large number of spectators and they were treated to some interesting work. The course proper was available three trestles out from the rails, and it was in excellent order. Rapine and Joy Kin;; went well over six furlongs, while Kcremoana, Orcum, and Flying Juliet impressed by their gallops over seven furlongs. Civility and Aussie ran six furlongs pleasingly. Before Breakfast. Rapine was in front of Joy King over six furlongs in 1.18 1-5. They started from between the seven and the six furlong posts and were well in their stride when they reached the six peg, otherwise Rapine, who is not as quick a beginner as Joy King, would have lost ground at the start. Both impressed by the manner in which they galloped. Reremoana was far too good for Lady Desmond, beating her easily at the end of seven furlongs run in 1.32 3-5.

Civility and The Thorn, after cantering round on the tan, were pulled on to the course proper and ran six furlongs in 1.17 2-5, the first taking 13s, two funongs 25 3-5s and four 50 2-ss. This was a 1 good gallop and Civility finished in front. Sir Roseberry and Day Bell went seven furlongs in 1.34 4-5. The latter appears to have got over the kick he received during the week. Gascony ran five furlongs in 1.5 1-5. Damaris, Thaw and Covent Garden ran four furlongs in 49 4-ss, which was a pleasing effort. 'There was not a great ; deal between them at the finisn. Princess Ronnie was ahead of Hipo at the end of seven furlongs run in 1.32 2-5. Archeno and Ring l'atoa covered six furlongs in 1.20. Wyoming and Bright Dawn finished , ahead of Kahepoto at the finish of six furlongs in 1.19 4-5. Lomint and Chamour were together at the end of seven furlongs, which thev covered in 1.33. THE JUMPERS.

Beau Cavalier went over the t-teeple-chase fences on the flat and jumped well. Marita, Glen Light, and Blue Sky were sent over four schooling hurdles. Marita jumped the l»est and finished in front. Kendnl and Ciarzon were given a run over the steeplechase fences on the flat twice. Kendnl jumped really well, and (inrzon gave a pood display,' except th.it he hit the first fence of the double rather hard. Dead Sweet and Golden Glass were schooled separately over hurdles and each gave a good display. ARRIVALS. W. Townsend has arrived with Quincoma, Barometer, Royal Dalton, Micrometer, and Quinvardia". H. Era has reached Ellerslic with Flying .Tuliet and W'aka King. RAPINE AND JOY KING. Both Fa pine and Joy King arc to start in the Easter Handicap. The former will be ridden by M. Gilmore, *nd R.
