ARAPUNI CONTRACT.
DATE OF COMPLETION. "THINGS UNCERTAIN/' (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. Questions about the date of completion of the Arapuni job were asked during the hearing of an action in the Supreme Court to-day, in which Sir W. G. Armstrong, Whitworth and Co., Ltd., were the defendants. Francis Douglas Martin, civil engineer, employed by the company, was asked by Mr. Johnson, counsel for the plaintiff: When do you expect to finish the work at Arapuni? Witness: I have no expectations. Mr. Johnson: Is it right to say you have been granted an extension aftrr July, when the contract should be finished ? Witness objected to the question. Mr. Johnson: Would it be right to say you will be there for another 12 months ? Witness said he could not say. Things were so uncertain. He did not feel justified in making a public statement on the matter.
