SOUTHERN FIRE BRIGADES.
DEMONSTRATION AT GORE. LOCAL TEAM SUCCESSFUL. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GORE, Wednesday. A great attendance of the public witnessed the demonstration by the southern districts lire brigades this afternoon. The Gore . team had a very successful day, being unplaced in only one event. It won the Coulson Shield and the Southern Districts Shield. Mosgiel annexed the Gore Cup for brigades hitherto unplaced at a New Zealand demonstration. The following are the results of the competitions:— Two-man Coiled Hose (wet). —Gore A, 40 4-js, 1; Hillside A. 445. 2; (tore B, 4.35, 3. Fourteen teams competed. Three Men Disabled.—Gore A. 41 l-3s, 1; Oamaru A. 51 l-.js, 2; Hillside A. 54 3-os, 3. Sixteen teams competed. Four-men Keel.—Gore A, 4."> 3-ss, 1; Duiiedin City, 47 2-os, 2; Oainaru, 495, 3. Nine teams competed. Rescue Event (two men). —Gore A, 275, 1; Alexandra, 28 l-ss, 2; Hillside A, 29 2-os, 3. Eleven competed. Hose, Hydrant and Union (.> men). — Gore A, 465, 1; Hillside, 4G 2-.>s, 2; Dunedin City, 40 4-os, 3. Hose, Hydrant and Ladder (five men). —Oamaru, 07s, 1; Hillside, 69 2-js, 2; Alexandra, 70s, 3. Eight competed. South?-n Districts Shield.—Gore, S4A points, 1; Hillside, OGi, 2; Oamaru, 61, Gore Cup.—Mosgiel, 83 J points, 1; Queenstowji, 00, 2; Port Chalmers, 40* 3. Firemen and officials were Entertained at a smoke social in the Town Hall this evening. The Mayor presided and presented the prizes.
