ANNIVERSARY REGATTA.
! I PRESENTATION OP PRIZES. | VALUE OF THE SMALL CLASSES. The prizes won at the last Anniversary Day regatta were presented last evening at a meeting of the Regatta Committee, the chairman (Mr. W. P. Endean) presiding. He was supported by Mr. H. R. Mackenzie (chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board), his Worship the Mayor (Mr. Geo. Baildon), Captain W. Ross, and Mr. B. W. Beaumont (ex-chairman of committee). Mr. Endean referred to the fine display made by the yachts on Regatta • Day, and especially commended the j owners of the small boat classes on their i good seamanship. While such numbers of young men went in for the sport of sailing there would be no fear of their time-honoured annual function falling off in popularity. ° I His Worship the Mayor congratulated . the Regatta Committee on their success, i and also emphasised the. fact that there | was no danger of the regatta, which had I been carried out for 78 years, losing its ; hold on the public, while they raced with the keenness shown this year, especially J by the young men of the classes 20ft ; and under.
The prizes were distributed by his Worship, the first prize-winner in each class being as follows:—
i First-class yachts (Harbour Board Cup and miniature, presented by Mr. I K. R. Mackenzie), won by Nga Toa; B i Class, Kotiri; C Class, Queenie; E Class, | Rover; O Class, Mirage; H Class, Wai- | tere II.; L Class, Otira; N Class, Winij fred; M Class, Manene; Star Class, j Ola IV.; V Class, Surprise; S Class, Sea j Sleigh; T Class, Dulcie; X Class, Rona; I x Class, Alerte; Z Class, Lai Lai. I Launches.—Under 18 knots, ShamI rock; 8-10 knots, Esther G.; over 10 . knots, Lady Margaret; speed champion- . ship, Bonzo; speed boats over 16 knots, Miss X.; outboard motor championship, Miss Johnston.
Mr. H. R. Mackenzie also congratulated the committee on the way thev had carried out the regatta, and said the Harbour Board was always ready to help along the spirit of yachting. Mr. Endean thanked Mr. Baildon for his presence, and also thanked the sailing officials and committee for the way i they had backed him up and carried out | their duties on the day.
