I \ Kffojvcti 1SYDNEY, this day. ! A terriiie explosion early yo-terday ! morning aroused iho residents of Red- , fern, the principal suburb of Sydney. The explosion occurred i n shop occupied bv Indians. Tiie building was i completely shattered. Five of the necupants were buried beneath the debri*. Only two of them sus- • i tained .-light injuries. A Hindu, who was the principal Crown j witness in a Quarter Session case. . which began yesterday, was sleeping in | the shop. ] The force of the explosion was such I that it damaged 14 other shops in the | same street. It also broke sonic win- ( | dows at a distance of 300 yards. I The electric lisht system was badly dislocated. s . The Indians deny that they had any . ! explosives stored on the premises, i The police are investigating the pos-i- - bilities of a bomb outrage among other theories. Indications are that a considerable quantity of high explosive, probably ! gelignite, was maiiciou-ly placed in front jof the shop.
